A Slowloris Attack attack is very inconspicuous, but all the more insidious. Minimal data traffic is enough for an attacker to even disable any web server with the help of one computer. The program allowing this attack functions by opening up many network connections and trying to keep them open for as long as possible. This is achieved by sending HT requests very slowly, in parts and just before the timeout expires. The server keeps these connections open, but due to the fact that it can also keep a limited number of connections open, it needs to reject other connection requests and so the rest of the world is unavailable. This type of attack is very hard to detect because no apparent abnormality actually occurred: the server is fine, except that it cannot handle incoming requests.
